Chiefs Challenge for AFC West Championship

2011 was already a lost cause for the Chiefs by Week 15. Their head coach Todd Haley was fired and the injury roster read longer than a grocery list to feed an NFL O-line for a week. QB Matt Cassel, RB Jamaal Charles, Tony Moeaki, and DB Eric Berry were among the "main courses" that missed significant playing time and put quite a personnel dent in the Kansas City roster thus it looked like an easy December day for the then 12-0 Green Bay Packers. But under Interim Head CoachRomeo Crennel, the KC defense rose up behind star LB Tamba Hali and denied the Pack their "inevitable" undefeated season with a 19-14 surprise. With that win, not only did Crennel earn removal of the term "Interim" from his title, but it served for a confidence boost that is motivating players to prepare for the 2012 season.
